Odone, Nicolo Carlo Rev., 1868-1947.
Biographical notes:
Father Nicolo Carlo Odone (1868-1947) was born in Sestri Ponente, Italy. He was ordained into the priesthood in 1889 and came to America, where he performed priestly functions. After a short stay in Coal City, Illinois, he returned to Italy in 1897, but in 1899 again came to America, invited by Archbishop Ireland to come to St. Paul, Minnesota to establish a church for the Italians. He served the Italian community as pastor of Holy Redeemer Church until 1910. Subsequently he became chaplain at the House of the Good Shepherd in St. Paul. From 1924 to 1927, he had a number of short-term clerical assignments. In 1927 took up duties at Margaret Barry House (Minneapolis, Minnesota). He retired to a contemplative life in Stillwater, Minnesota in 1934.
