Biographical notes:

Theodore George Harwood Drake was born in 1891 in Webbwood, Ont. The family moved to North Bay, Ont., where he received his primary and secondary school education. He attended the University of Toronto, obtaining his M.B. in 1914. He interned for a year at the Toronto General Hospital before joining the Royal Army Medical Corps. On his return to Canada, he spent four years practising medicine in Saskatchewan before moving to Toronto to do graduate work at the Hospital for Sick Children. In 1928, he was appointed to the clinical and research staff of the Hospital for Sick Children and to the Department of Paediatrics of the University of Toronto. His research in cooperation with Dr. Frederick Tisdall under Dr. Alan Brown let in 1934 to the development of the infant food Pablum. In 1949, he succeeded Dr. Tisdale as Director of the Research Laboratories at the Hospital for Sick Children, a position he held until his retirement. He died in 1959.
