Biographical notes:
Edward Newton Merrill and his sons Edward Folsom Merrill and William Folsom Merrill practiced law in Skowhegan, Maine. Edward Newton Merrill, a graduate of Bowdoin College in 1874, was a member of the Maine House of Representatives in 1899 and 1905 and was a member of the Maine Senate in 1917. Edward Folsom Merrill graduated from Bowdoin in 1903 and from Harvard Law School in 1906. In addition to practicing law with his father and brother, he was a member of the Maine Board of Bar Examiners and president of the Maine State Bar Association, 1933-1934. William Folsom Merrill graduated from Bowdoin in 1911 and from Harvard Law School in 1914 and practiced law with his father and brother in the firm Merrill & Merrill.
