Biographical note: German emigre social scientist and journalist.

Pachter was born Heinz Paechter in Berlin. In 1941 he immigrated to the United States, after spending two years in a French internment camp. He as a professor of history at the New School for Social Research and at City College of the City University of New York. He wrote political articles under the pseudonym Henry Rabassiere and wrote articles under the byline Heinz Paechter about world affairs, American politics, and other subjects for West German newspapers, 1952-76.
