Biographical notes:
Gertrude Traubel, the daughter of Anne Montgomerie and Horace Traubel, was born in Camden, New Jersey, but she studied music in Philadelphia and taught at the Germantown Academy and in the Philadelphia School District. Gertrude married New York architect, Albert Clement Aalholm, and their son, Malcolm Wallace, also lived in Philadelphia. Gertrude gave annual holiday recitals for children and throughout her life gave talks about Whitman and music. Gertrude died in 1983.
