Biographical notes:

Albert Nels Jorgenson was born in the Midwest, attended Coe College in Iowa and received the Ph. D. in Educational Administration from Eastern Michigan College. In 1935, at the age of 36, he was appointed seventh president of the Connecticut State College. In 1939, the college became the University of Connecticut. Dr. Jorgensen retired in 1962 after 27 years in office. He is best remembered as the architect of the University campus and most of the permanent buildings on campus are monuments to his energy, ability and vision. He died in 1978.
