Stangel, W. L. (Wenzel Louis), 1889-1978
Biographical notes:
Born August 16, 1889 at Stangelville, Wisconsin, Wenzel Louis Stangel received degrees from Texas A&M and the University of Missouri. In 1920, he married Mary Ruth Canon. Stangel was one of the original Texas Technological College faculty member in 1925 and went on to establish the Animal Husbandry Department. He became Dean of College of Agriculture, chaired the Texas Technological College Athletic Council for 25 years, and published numerous works on animal science. One of the residence dormitories on the Tech campus was named after him. Stangel died 1978 in Lubbock, Texas.
