Biographical notes:

Grace Rhoads, recipient of a Ph. D. from Bryn Mawr College in 1933, was a world-travelling activist for the causes of children's relief and education, peace and international goodwill. She was associated with the American Friends Service Committee for Freundschaftsheim, a community founded by Pastor Wilhelm Mensching in Böeckburg, Germany. She was very active with the New Jersey Branch of Women's International League for Peace and Freedom, the WILPF Committee on Conscientious Objectors and the Women's Committee to Oppose Conscription. She was a field secretary for the American Friends Service Committee prior to her WILPF work.
