Shirley Nuss

Biographical notes:

A graduate in sociology of the University of Colorado (B.A. 1969, M.A. 1975, Ph.D. 1975), Shirley A. Nuss (1944- ) was an assistant professor at Wayne State University where she became involved in a well known tenure case, which was supported by the American Association of University Professors and Sociologists for Women in Society. An expert on the status of women in third world countries, Nuss worked for many years with the United Nations agencies and governments in South Asia to design, evaluate, and implement national survey programs to gather data on women. She also served as a research consultant for the World Conference of the U.N. Decade for Women, 1979-1980.
