New Hampshire politician; born September 28, 1929 in Boston; Kennedy Fellow, Harvard University, 1979; served six terms in the New Hampshire House of Representatives, 1969-1980; New Hampshire gubernatorial candidate, 1972; Chairperson, Ways and Means Committee, 1976-1980; President, New Hampshire Council on World Affairs, 1976-1980; candidate for United States Congress, 1980; served in the New Hampshire Senate, 1980-1994; holds honorary law degrees from New England College and Franklin Pierce College.
