Biographical notes:
Beatrice Pearson was an active member of the Communist Party USA for six decades, from the 1920s into the 1980s. Pearson taught classes in the Workers School (New York, N.Y.), participated in community and labor organizing, in the Womens International League for Peace and Freedom, and held a number of support staff positions in the communist movement, including a stint as bookkeeper for the New Masses. This manuscript describes her German American family background, education at the University of Chicago, her life and work as a communist activist in New York, New Jersey, Pittsburgh, Charleston, Johnstown, Pa., Louisville, and Chicago.
