John Day (1522-1584), printer, printed the first church music-book in English and the first psalm-tunes published in England. He became master of the Stationers' Company in 1580. His children included John Day (1546-1628), divine, vicar of St Mary's, Oxford, 1609-1622, and Lionel Day (1570-1640), B.D., rector of Whichford, Warwickshire, and father of John Day (1611-1631).

John Day was one of the early participants in ARPANET and was active in the Open System Interconnection Standards effort. He was the chairman of ANSI X3T51, OSI Architecture, and the OSI Formal Description Techniques Group. He was active in ISO efforts to develop a range of standards for networking.
