Charles A. Choate was editor of the Pensacola Daily News between 1894 and 1896. A native of Illinois and educated in the law, Choate first practiced there in 1864. He came to Florida in 1877 where, in Tallahassee, he became interested in newspaper work. He published the Florida Immigrant for two years and was also involved with the Citizen of Jacksonville. He was judge advocate general for Governor Francis Fleming, 1888-1892 and in 1896 he was a candidate for state attorney general.
