William Wirt Blume began his legal career before actually completing his formal legal studies at the University of Michigan. Before enrolling in law school in 1926, Blume taught law at Soochow University in China. In 1931, he was appointed assistant professor of law at the University of Michigan. During his tenure at Michigan, Blume authored the six-volume work titled " Transactions of the Supreme Court of the Territory of Michigan, 1805-1836." Professor Blume retired from his distinguished legal career in 1963.
