Citizens for Participation in Political Action (CPPAX) was formed in December 1972, by the merger of Massachusetts Political Action for Peace (MassPAX) and Citizens for Participation Politics (CPP). CPPAX endeavors to further progressive issues through citizen participation in the electoral process. These issues include peace and disarmament, housing, and civil rights. MassPAX was founded in November 1962, out of the campaign of Stuart Hughes for U.S. Senate. CPP was founded in 1968, by persons who had been involved in Eugene McCarthy's presidential campaign in Massachusetts.
