Davis, James W. (James White), 1906-1995

James W. Davis (1906-1995) was a Rear Admiral in the United States Navy who served during World War II.

Rear Admiral James W. Davis, a 1930 graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy, began his military career aboard the USS Wyoming and USS Pennsylvania. After additional training in mechanical engineering, Davis was assigned to submarine duty and subsequently commanded two submarines in the Pacific during World War II. After World War II, Davis held seven more command positions and various administrative positions, including deputy director, Joint Staff, for the Joint Chiefs of Staff, as well as naval deputy for the NATO Defense College. He retired from the Navy in 1965.
