Joan
Joan was enslaved by George Washington at Dogue Run Farm in Virginia, part of the Mount Vernon estate. She may have been married to, and her children fathered by, Ben; Joan's daughter Betty was referred to as Ben's Bett in 1799. She had 3 surviving children in 1786, by which time she herself was dead: Aggy, Simon, and Bett.
