Alexander Agassiz, 1835-1910. Zoologist, Oceanographer. Son of Louis and Cecile Agassiz. Attended Harvard (A.B., 1855), Lawrence Scientific School (1857). Assistant in Zoology, Museum of Comparative Zoology, Harvard (1860-1865); developer and director of Calumet & Hecla Mining Co., Lake Superior. Director of Museum of Comparative Zoology (1874-1898).
