Sullivan was a Southern Baptist pastor and denominational executive. He served as the Executive Secretary of the Sunday School Board of the Southern Baptist Convention from 1954 to his retirement in 1975. The Sunday School Board served as the major publisher of Bible teaching material and books during Sullivan's tenure.
