Muséum national d'histoire naturelle (France)
Louis Nicolas Vauquelin was the French chemist who discovered the elements beryllium and chromium, and isolated asparagine, the first amino acid to be identified.
French botanist René Louiche Desfontaines was appointed professor of botany at the Jardin des Plantes in 1786, and later became director of the Museum national d'histoire naturelle, president of the Academy of Sciences, and was elected to the Legion d'honneur.
