Pitts, Tyrone
An ordained minister of the American Baptist Church, Pitts was the Director for Racial Justice at the National Council of the Churches of Christ in the U.S.A. (NCC) from 1980 to 1989.
The NCC, founded in 1950, is an ecumenical organization made up of member communions, including Protestant, Orthodox and Anglican Church bodies. Through its programs the NCC work encompasses a wide range of activities that further Christian unity, promote social justice and serve people throughout the world.
