Levitin, Sonia, 1934-
German children's author, born in Berlin, Germany in 1934. Emigrated to the United States after World War II began. Has written almost twenty books for children, including picture books, murder mysteries for older children, humorous books, and books dealing with the past as well as the present. Courage, independence of thought, and peronal freedom are frequent themes in Levitin's more serious young adult novels.
