The E.H. Butler family played a prominent role in the development of the Niagara Frontier for nearly one hundred years -- 1880-1976.
E.H. Butler founded the Buffalo Evening News (first edition, October 11, 1880), and upon his death in 1914, his son, Edward, assumed the responsibility of the newspaper as editor and publisher.
