The Federal Board of Hospitalization was established November 1, 1921, by Budget Bureau Circular No. 44, to coordinate the hospitalization activities of Federal agencies.
It was composed of a Chief Coordinator, appointed by the President, and the heads of each bureau or agency having hospital functions, serving ex officio. On October 24, 1924, the Director of the U. S. Veterans' Bureau was made Chairman under Budget Bureau Circular No. 146, and the Boardwas made advisory to the Bureau of the Budget. During this period staff of the Board was furnished by detail of Veterans' Administration employees.
