Milligan, Spike, 1918-2002

Milligan, Terence Alan [Spike] (1918-2002), comedian and author, one of the key creative forces who transformed post-war British comedy, bringing irreverence, surrealism and the absurd to popular culture. He wrote best-selling fiction, memoirs, poetry and children’s literature, just under half of which is represented in some form in this collection of manuscripts.

From the guide to the Spike Milligan Papers, 20th Century, (St John's College, Oxford)
