Mary P. Sinclair was born Sept. 23, 1918 in Chisholm, Minn. She graduated in 1940 from the College of St. Catherine, in St. Paul, with majors in chemistry and English. She founded the Saginaw Valley Nuclear Study Group (1969), helped to organize the National Interveners (1972) a coalition of anti-nuclear groups, and organized the Great Lakes Energy Alliance (1978). She received a M.S. degree in environmental communication from the University of Michigan in 1973, and was a lecturer there from 1974-78.
