Muñiz, Ramsey, 1942-
Lawyer and gubernatorial candidate for the Texas Raza Unida Party. Ramiro "Ramsey" Muñiz was born on December 13, 1942, in Corpus Christi, Texas. Attended Baylor University where he received B.A. and LL.D. degrees. Worked as director of the Urban Community Development Corporation in Waco. Ran for governor of Texas on the Raza Unida Party ticket in 1972 and 1974. Was practicing law in Corpus Christi in 1976 when he was arrested on drug charges. Albina (Abbie) Pina, a native of McAllen, Texas, was married to Ramsey Muñiz from 1966 to 1980. Educator and administrator of bilingual education programs, she earned a B.A. from Texas A & I University and M.Ed. from Our Lady of the Lake University of San Antonio. She was active in Ramsey Muñiz' campaigns.
