Vincent, Thomas MacCurdy, 1832-1909
Civil War Union Brevet Brigadier General. On July 1, 1853, he graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point, New York, and was commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant in 2nd United States Artillery. At the outbreak of the Civil War, he was assigned to the Regimental Quartermaster, Army of Northwestern Virginia and engaged in the First Battle of Bull Run. On July 17, 1862, he was promoted Major, Assistant Adjutant General for the Office of the War Department, Washington D.C. As Assistant Adjutant General under the Secretary of War, he was responsible for the organization, mustering regulations and payroll of the volunteer armies of the United States. For faithful and meritorious service during the war he was brevetted Brigadier General on March 13, 1865. He retired on November 15, 1896, with over 43 years military service.
