Oklahoma State University. School of Journalism and Broadcasting

Even before a department or school developed, journalism was important to Oklahoma State University. Freeman E. Miller served as the first director of the College Press Bureau and was the supervisor for the student newspaper, Oklahoma A and M College Mirror. Journalism began as part of the English department. In 1937 Journalism split from English to become a separate department and later a school. The School of Journalism and Broadcasting was formed in 1970.
