Wallace, Fred C., 1887-1959.
Fred C. Wallace was a United States (U.S.) Army officer who graduated from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point in 1910. He was assigned to the 4th Mechanized Division at Fort Gordon, Georgia (October 1940); commanded the Fifth Corps Area (redesignated Fifth Service Command) with headquarters at Fort Hayes, Ohio (July 1942); commanded the 4th Island Command, Central Pacific (October 1943); commanded the Tenth Army, Garrison Forces, Schofield Barracks, Hawaii (November 1944); he was assigned as island commander, Okinawa (May 1945). Wallace retired from service on 30 April, 1946.
