Mariners' Church (Philadelphia, Pa.)

Mariners' Presbyterian Church was established in 1819 by Joseph Eastburn (1748-1828), though the church was not formally organized by the Presbytery of Philadelphia until 1830. Until it was destroyed by a fire in 1963, the church ministered to sailors as well as to the city's poor and indigent in conjunction with the Seamen's and Landsmen's Aid Society. In 1965, Mariners' merged with the Third and Scots Presbyterian Church; the resulting Third, Scots and Mariners' Presbyterian Church, better known as Old Pine Street Church, still stands at 412 Pine Street.
