Slaughter, William M., 1830-1897
Colorado pioneer and lawyer. "He was born near Chillicothe, O., and was educated at Oberlin college. He came to St. Joseph, Mo., in 1852 and was admitted to the bar at Plattsburg, Neb., in 1858. He served as judge of the appellate court under what was known as the "people's government" in Denver and was a member of the Colorado territorial legislature in 1862 and 1868. In 1870 he was chief clerk of the Colorado house of legislature." (from obituary, Rocky Mtn. News, 11/20/97).
