Vachell, Horace Annesley, 1861–1955
English novelist and playwright. A prolific and popular author, best remembered for The Hill, an idealization of school life at Harrow. Born at Sydenham, England, died at Bath. Lived in California in 1897. In 1883 he was a Lieutenant in the Rifle Brigade in England.
