Gallagher, Philip E. (Philip Edward), 1897-1976
Philip Edward Gallagher (b. Mar. 13, 1897-d. July 18, 1976) was born at Fort Myer, Virginia. He received his commission in the infantry from West Point in 1918, and later served as Commandant of Cadets at the Academy in 1942 and 1943. He achieved the rank of brigadier general in February 1943, and commanded the 14th U.S. Division in 1946. He later sered as commanding general of Fort Gordon in 1956 and 1957, and retired from Army service in February 1957.
