Schuh, G. Edward (George Edward), 1930-....

G. Edward Schuh, 1930-2008, was an internationally recognized expert in agricultural and food policy, economic and rural development and international trade. Schuh came to the University of Minnesota in 1979 where he served until 1984 as professor and head of the Department of Agricultural and Applied Economics. In 1984 he accepted a position as the Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development at the World Bank in Washington D.C. In 1987 Schuh returned to the University of Minnesota to serve as Dean of the Humphrey Institute of Public Affairs, a position he held until 1997. From 1997 until his retirement in 2006, he was Director of the Orville and Jane Freeman Center for International Economic Policy in the Humphrey Center, focusing on agricultural and economic development policy, international trade and investment policy, and science and technology policy. In 1998, Schuh was awarded the title of Regent's professor, the highest honor bestowed upon the faculty at the University of Minnesota. He retired from the University of Minnesota in 2006.
