Capitalist, stock raiser. Abington, Mass.-born maternal uncle of Delia Hammond Locke, wife of founder of Lockeford, Calif. Raised sheep and acquired real estate in San Joaquin and Calaveras Counties (1860-1882). Active in Sons of Temperance (1860-1863), Society of Good Templars (1887-1888) and Congregational Society of Stockton, Calif. (1875-1893).
