Crabb, Jarred V. (Jarred Vincent), 1902-1981
Jarred Vincent Crabb (b. 1902, Olney, Ill.-d. July 25, 1981), U.S. Air Force officer, a graduate of Purdue University, enlisted in the Army as a flying cadet and attended flying school, receiving a commission in 1930. His early career included assignments in the U.S., Panama Canal Zone, and Newfoundland. During World War II, General Crabb served as commander of a bombardment group operating in the South Pacific theater, and held several key positions with the 5th Bomber Command, at headquarters of the 5th Air Force, and as commander of the 314th Composite Wing. After the War, he served as deputy commander of the 9th Air Force, commander of the 13th Air Force in the Philippines, and deputy chief of staff for operations of the Far East Air Forces headquartered in Tokyo. During the 1950s, he was assigned to Air Defense Commands in Missouri and Colorado.
