Tarr in 1855 as Dodd & Tarr Fisheries; name changed to James G. Tarr & Bro. in 1874; grocery store established under name: Dodd, Tarr & Co.; copper paint manufactory established at Tarr's wharf in 1863 by Augustus Wonson and James G. Tarr under name: Tarr & Wonson.
