Baldwin, Anita May, 1876-1939

Daughter of Elias Jackson "Lucky" Baldwin (1828-1909). Baldwin had made fortune by getting key holdings in Comstock Mines at two dollars per share (1870) then selling out (1872) at $1,800 per share. He invested some of his money in Rancho Santa Anita development in San Gabriel Valley. There he planted substantial vineyards and created largest racing stable in U.S. Anita Baldwin's letter written at Santa Anita to San Francisco friend. Content focuses on upcoming Rose Parade (1914).
