Thumel, Christian Bernhard.
A Lutheran pastor, Thummel had been received into the South Carolina Synod from the New York Synod in 1841. Prior to that he taught, 1830-1832, at Hartwick Seminary (then located in Otsego County, N.Y.); despite the apparent contentment with his appointment in Lexington, S.C., discussed in these letters of the early 1840s, in 1844, Thummel resigned and relocated to Ohio.
From the description of Christian Bernhard Thumel papers, 1841-1843. (University of South Carolina). WorldCat record id: 667251363
