Scudder, John M. (John Milton), 1829-1894
John Milton Scudder, researcher, teacher, and administrator, was "the most conspicious man in 19th century Eclecticism" [Harvey W. Felter].

On the brink of insolvency, the school was quickly turned around under Scudder, and became the most important Eclectic school. Scudder edited the Eclectic Medical Journal, and also served the school as a professor from 1857 until his death.
