Abbott, Lawrence, 1902-1985
Professor of economics, Lawrence Abbott, 1902-1985, was born in Cornwall-on-Hudson, New York. Before moving into economics and academia, he led a self-described "career-hopping life" working in advertising, fund raising, broadcasting, and magazine editing. After retiring from the faculty of the University of Connecticut in 1968, Abbott devoted his life and work to the World Federalist cause, serving variously as president and secretary of the Mansfield, Connecticut, chapter, delegate to and secretary of the New England board, delegate to and secretary of the national board, and editor of the national newsletter, The Federalist.
