Nelson, Gloria, 1921-

Gloria Nelson and her husband were selected during the second drawing for a block of land in the newly opened Columbia Basin Project in 1953. The family settled on the desolate 80-acre tract southwest of Othello in Adams County and lived in nearly primitive conditions.

From the guide to the Gloria Nelson Letters, 1953-1957, (Eastern Washington State Historical Society/Northwest Museum of Arts & Culture Joel E. Ferris Research Library and Archives)
