Perry, Dale I., 1952-1984.
Born and educated in Rhode Island. In 1975 awarded a Matilda Geddings Gray Fellowship to study pre-columbian Spanish colonial art in Guatemala. He continued his academic career in a Ph. D. program at the University of New Mexico, where he attained ABD status before his death in 1982. Perry believed that art patronage was an important and much neglected topic in art history. He hoped that his dissertation would help to focus more attention on the subject.
