Jurist. LL.D., U. of Indiana, 1832. Adm. to Bar 1837. Practiced law in Pittsburg, Pa., 1837-1848; in Alexandria, Va., and Washington, D.C., 1848-1863. Judge, Superior Court of D.C., 1863-1865. Gave only vote for Lincoln in 1860 which was given in Alexandria. Retired 1885.
