The collection consists of the following items: 1.) Fragment of a bill dated 1800, to a person not named [Cleveland?] for items purchased by "your son Benjamin" and "for Miss Polly Cleveland (?) your daughter," and an affidavit by William Steele that the above amount of 10-5-8 is due him, sworn to June 15, 1803 before John Taylor (South Carolina, Pendleton Distric) ; 2.) Bill receipted for school expenses for Miss Anna Franklin at Salem Boarding School 1815-1816, owed to Abraham Steiner and paid by Col. Bedney Franklin, May 21, 1816 (Salem Boarding School could not have been Salem Academy in Clarke County because the latter did not open until 1820) ; 3.) Broadside: "Mr. Jefferson's Voice," Extra of The Virginian for April 6, 1829, Lynchburg, and letters from Thomas Jefferson to Samuel Kercheval, 1816, re: calling a Convention to reform the State Constitution ; 4.) Copy of The Athenian (Athens, Georgia newspaper), vol. IV, no. 38, Tuesday, September 21, 1830, complete issue of 4 pages ; 5.) Bill receipted to Mr. F. Yerbey, from Bones & Carmichael of Augusta, Georgia, dated July 28, 1838 for items for a saw mill ; 6.) Certificate, Confederate States Depository, dated March 24, 1864, stating that L. Franklin has bought $300.00 worth of Confederate Bonds ; 7.) Certificate, Confederate States Depository, dated April 1, 1864, stating that L. Franklin has bought $600.00 worth of Confederate Bonds ; 8.) Copy of the Daily Constitutionalist (Augusta, Georgia newspaper), vol. XXIII, no. 222, complete issue of 4 pages ; 9.) Broadside for the University of Georgia Program for the Sophomore declamation on Monday, August 5, 1867, where there were 19 speeches and 10 musical numbers ; 10.) Broadside of the University of Georgia program for the Commencement held August 7, 1867 ; 11.) Broadside for the Ladies Memorial Association of Athens, Georgia program "A Grand Fair," held to raise funds for the Confederate Memorial (undated, probably 1866 or 1867) ; 12.) Valentine, undated, mailed from Augusta Georgia to Miss M. O. Yerby, care of Mrs. S. H. Yerby, Athens, Georgia (Note: The 1850 census of Clarke County lists the following as members of that Yerby family: Sarah H. Yerby, age 33, female ; Burrell Yerby, age 14, male ; Frances A. Yerby, age 12, female ; Eliza S. Yerby, age 11, female ; Rebecca A. Yerby, age 10, female ; Mary O. Yerby, age 6, female ; Lewis Collins, age 84, male - all were born in Georgia.).
