James Dorn, offering to sell their mine, comparing it with various mines in Georgia, and advising, "I cannot but believe that if our Mine were in the hands of a person or company with sufficient capital, and having proper persons to conduct its operations - would yield a hansome return upon the investment." Letter, 17 Apr. 1860, Meeting Steet P.O., Edgefield District, S.C., to J[oseph] Slocum, Syracuse, N.Y., offering to sell his interest in the "Gold Mill, and the Mine ... for Six Thousand Dollars," and reporting that "Mr. [Oscar M.] Lieber, our State Geologist, has visited our mines, and... expressed a very flattering opinion of them... he thought they offered the best prospect... of any thing he had seein the the State, except W.B. Dorn's mine.
