Imitations des posies d'Ossian, fils de Fingal, ancien poete celtique. Malte, 1795.
Manuscript, corrected, of a collection of French imitations of the poems of Ossian: titles include "Fingal a son petit fils Oscar," "Consolations d'Ossian a Sulmala amante de Cathmor," "Fingal renonce aux combats," "Tremmor et Inibaca," and "Description d'une nuit d'orage." The poems are preceded by a four-part "Discours preliminaire" which discusses the influence of the religion of the "Caledonians" on Ossian, the history of Ossian and his family, and the poems themselves and includes a French translation of Young Werther's letter on Ossian. The volume concludes with detailed interpretive notes on the individual poems.
