In addition there is a letter requesting reward money for a resident of Natchez, Mississippi who captured an escaped convict from Kentucky who then escaped from the Mississippi jail. There are also letters from numerous legislators and a copy of a letter from Slaughter to Governor James Preston of Virginia concerning a proposed road.

Persuant to a writ of ad quod damnum twelve freeholders of Montgomery County certify that a water grist mill, dam and ditch proposed by Governor James P. Preston on Stroubles Creek will not injure the property of others and will be a public convenience. With the copy of the certification is the 1815 December 15 summons to the freeholders signed by Montgomery County clerk Charles Tayler with a March 1816 docket indicating Preston was allowed to erect the mill.
