Governor's correspondence, 1816-1819 (bulk 1819).

These are incoming letters to Governor Gabriel Slaughter which document administrative activities of the chief executive. Topics brought to the governor's attention include legislation passed by the General Assembly and the border dispute with Tennessee. In addition there is a letter requesting reward money for a resident of Natchez, Mississippi who captured an escaped convict from Kentucky who then escaped from the Mississippi jail. There are also letters from numerous legislators and a copy of a letter from Slaughter to Governor James Preston of Virginia concerning a proposed road.
